I have never really been much of a blogger because things online stay permanent, and I have a tendency of ranting when I write freely. Some things are better kept privately in a journal. Anyways I really enjoyed all the speakers we had last class.
The one who stuck out the most is Melissa Gilbert because of her passion for helping others. Before I decided to major in creative writing I wanted to be a social worker so I could work with kids who did not have the best opportunities in life. My last year in high school I got involved with a local group who helped kids coming from abusive situations. Hearing Melissa talk about all the different groups that we could work with, and the small exercise we did just brought me back to that last year.
Unfortunately, I have a crazy schedule so my options are limited to which group I can work with. I would love to get involved more as I continue here at Otterbein. I think this semester our class could really make an impact on at least one girl's life with what we have to teach from our own experiences.
